Laurence Larson Carpinteria Fitness Gym Trainer

Laurence is a certified trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and specializes in functional fitness and corrective exercise. One of Laurence's main goals is to increase the quality of people's lives. Laurence says "the reason I became a Fitness Trainer was because I was so unathletic when I was younger; I was always getting picked last on the sports teams in school. I wanted to prove that it was possible to turn my life around. Being certified with NASM and helping others have improved health and well-being is my dream come true!"

Benefits of being trained by Laurence:

Help your body move at peak performance; help you create and stick to a personalized diet & exercise program; and address muscle balance. All of this while getting in incredible shape.

Janine's story: Fitness at any age

When I turned a Big 0 number back in 1987 I thought I was getting old so I decided to put my stuff in storage and travel 4000 miles across the US on a bicycle with a couple of crazy friends. I did not know what was in store for me. Already an avid cyclist, the road from Marblemount was my training ground over Loop Loop and Rainy passes on the North Cascades Hwy in Washington State. No flat tires, only sore butts, the next was Logan pass over the Rockies in Glacier National Park. It was grueling but the scenery made it all worth it. That trip sparked a desire to do a triathlon so I began training. Where there’s a will there’s a way. The year of the triathlon, the goal was work out every day except one day per week. The beauty of that sport is your hamstrings get stronger during running, your quadriceps during bicycling and your arms and back during the swim. No one muscle group gets overused because you keep switching. So you stay healthy. The open swim with that many people, was amazing! But it was a new high for me, goal achieved. The next decade milestone was a trip to a wedding bike trip over the cascades but this time I was 20 years older. I decided not to bring a bunch of gear and looked for a spa along the way. Not in Concrete WA. Why climb tall peaks I once asked? Because they are there. This year, having just turned X0, a friend would like to climb the half dome at Yosemite. I’m in. We’ve been training but it’s a bit slower. I did some hikes with my daughter who climbed Mt. Whitney last summer. Light bulb! If I quit hiking now, I will probably never take it up again. So I keep movin’ and a groovin’. If you love the outdoors, come to the gym and train. Go outside and have some peak moments. Be your best self. Never never never give up. Don’t be shy to modify, there is always a way to make something easier or harder as we age gracefully. What are your goals? Be specific and have SMART goals: Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely.

Amanda Burch

Amanda Burch Carpinteria Fitness Gym Trainer

Amanda is a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Personal Trainer whose passion is to help clients achieve their fitness/health related goals within a Body Positive framework. Although she had been an athlete all of her life, she had an unhealthy relationship with diet and exercise. Amanda says, "I used to utilize exercise as a means of burning off the food I had eaten, or to 'earn' the right to eat a 'bad' food. I had such a negative body image with no proper education regarding nutrition or exercise."

Amanda decided to take her health into her own hands and enrolled in the Fitness Leadership Program during her senior year at UCLA. Through this course, she learned proper exercise techniques, nutrition guidelines, and was able to draw on her background in Psychology to learn to appreciate her body for what it allowed her to do, rather than focus solely on what it looked like. She now has an intuitive relationship with food and movement, and her hope is that her clients can achieve the same.

Now that Amanda has moved back to Carpinteria, she is ready to bring her education and experience to members of Rincon Fitness USA. By working with Amanda, you will work towards achieve your goals while being encouraged to appreciate your body through every step of the process.

"I am working to dismantle old-style 'fitness/gym culture' ", Amanda says. "Health and wellness should be accessible to any body, and I am passionate about helping you begin your journey TODAY!"

According to WebMD, cross-training is a beneficial workout method that targets all of the muscle groups and systems in the body in order to achieve a high level of all-around fitness. Experienced “gym rats” mix up their exercise routine in order to improve strength, endurance, cardio-vascular capacity and flexibility. Cross-training also builds mindfulness, prevents “training boredom and burnout, as well as protects us from injuries. For those of us that participate in a particular team or individual sport, a well-rounded exercise regime helps enhance our performance.
